The Purpose for Earth Foundation was founded by father, son, and daughter-in-law, Burton, Josh, and Bianca Lewis, out of the desire to create a better planet for future generations. Inspired by the ocean conservation efforts of professional surfer, journalist, and scientist, Cliff Kapono, and recognizing the urgent need for a shift in mindset regarding recycling and sustainability, the Lewis family embarked on a journey to change the DNA of our waste-creating behaviors.
"Hi, we are Purpose For Earth Foundation, a multi-generational family with a simple vision of a planet that's safe and healthy now and for future generations.
By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans.
We seek to impact these changed behaviors by making information about ocean conservation, recycling, and sustainable living easily accessible and easy to understand. By teaching young people and families how to incorporate sustainable practices into their daily routines, The Purpose for Earth Foundation is working toward plastic-free oceans by 2050.
As a family of 4 adults, 2 kids and a 2 dogs all living under one roof, we are challenged every day with making choices that help our planet.
Our mantra is that it not about perfection, but about progress. We hope to inspire you and for you to inspire others as we all make small changes that collectively make a bigger impact.

“Step-up and Start Teaching
They say by 2050 there’s going to be more plastics in te ocean than marine life. It is time for parents to step up and start teaching our children how to recycle, and how to reduce plastics from getting in the ocean.
“Progress not perfection
Not everybody is going to do it right. We don't always do it right, and that's ok, but as long as we're taking that step to the right direction we're going to be ok.
“Being the Bigger Person
Be mindful about your trash. It shouldn't just be one person, it should be the whole group picking up their trash after a get together at the beach.
